Barter Friendly Web Designer/Dev Needed

StartUP-header-BoxI have a bit of an unusual collaboration to propose. My company facilitates bartering for small businesses. But in addition to being a bartering network for entrepreneurs/businesses, we are committed to demonstrating the viability of bartering in business as a successful strategy by building our business thru barter alone. That is, we will barter for everything we need to get our business started including logo, website, office space etc. We hope you will join us in this experiment/endeavor.

Currently, we are signing on pre-launch members. Our website isn’t developed yet but we still have a fully-functioning private network with over 100 members. I actively facilitate trades for our members using our point system. So, once we agree to a fair dollar amount for your services, I give you that amount in purchasing credit.

If you are willing to design/code our website (maybe design a logo too), we will give you purchasing points to buy a number of things like airline tickets, vacation packages, laptops, rental car services, tech and non-tech products and a host of other professional/personal services. Also, if you want specific items/services –I’ll make aggressive efforts to have them offered on our network so that you can use your points to purchase one or several of those items.

Additionally, as one of our founding barter partners, you or your company will be featured broadly in our newsletters, press releases and blogs.

What do you think? Please be in touch. I think we can have an interesting and mutually beneficial collaboration.

C++ Developer Looking For New Opportunities

  • Listed: May 17, 2010 6:58 am
  • Expires: 24 days, 5 hours

Experienced C++ (Linux/Unix) developer is looking for new opportunities.

I have been part of two prior startups (one successful) in the Electronic Design Automation industry.  I am open to any role: co-founder, partnership, employee, or contract developer as long as I find the work interesting and challenging.

I am not necessarily looking for opportunities in the chip design software area as I would  probably prefer development in another industry segment.

I am located in Southern California but can travel  (especially to the Bay Area) as needed. Relocation is a possibility for the right opportunity.

We are a garage-stage company (pre-funding, working prototype) with the ambition to make the taxi industry dramatically more customer-friendly and get a solid chunk of a $200M market in the US.

We are looking for a cofounder whose initial responsibility will be to take the solution to market (That means doing some strategic thinking along with plenty of hands-on market research to better understand market dynamics, selling the solution etc…).

If you are self-motivated & inspired by an opportunity to impact millions while carving out a big future for yourself, by all means send an email to hugo(at)nextgencab(dot)com. Big plus if you are familiar with the concepts of lean startup and customer development.

Software Engineer for Founding Team

  • City: Boston
  • State: Massachusetts
  • Country: United States
  • Contact Info: Drew Volpe,
  • Listed: June 8, 2010 8:15 am
  • Expires: 56 days, 6 hours

We’re a funded startup with a basic product and a few high-profile customers. We’re looking to add 1-2 more engineers. It’s a great opportunity for someone with 1-5 years experience to get in early and take on a larger role.

In a nutshell, our product gathers and analyzes GPS data from mobile phones to better understand what consumers do in the real world. Web analytics are essential to any online business and we believe location analytics will be for any business with a physical presence.

The ideal person will love coding, statistics, location data, and mobile. We use a lot of different technologies (Python, Java, schema-less databases, AWS, a little Matlab, …) and are looking for people who can pick up new things quickly.

It’s going to be a great ride; join us!

FolderBoy: fluid idea organizer with super-fast search

  • Listed: May 23, 2010 10:26 am
  • Expires: 53 days, 11 hours

FolderBoy is a real quick note taker and information manager. It’s an online repository for your ideas, and anything to do with your life. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to save their info and as easy as possible to retrieve their info.

FolderBoy uses search-as-you-type (arguably the quickest search of any note-taker to date). FolderBoy has nested labels: the ability for any folder or note to have multiple parent folders. Thus, people can organize their info in a flat-label like structure, or a hierarchical structure, or a combination of the two, depending on what comes naturally. And we have drag and drop.

We’re about to launch soon (we’re making one final makeover). So if you want to have a look at FolderBoy, then click the “Try It Now!” button (no sign up form: it goes straight to the demo account…it takes about 4-7 seconds to load).

DFW Area – CTO for B2B Saas Startup

  • City: Dallas
  • State: Texas
  • Country: United States
  • Listed: May 14, 2010 6:09 am
  • Expires: 2 days, 14 hours

After over a year working with target customers on product design, working out the key intellectual property details, and well on the way to developing out “beta one” release, we are looking to expand our team as we get close to rollout.

To date, the CTO role has been filled on an interim basis by one of the seed investors, but this is not a viable long-term plan due to his other commitments.

The partner we seek should be a “hands-on” CTO, capable of writing code (PHP/SQL) in the short term, and then taking the lead on future product design, building our technical team, and transitioning to a more traditional leadership role over time.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone that has had past startup experience in this or a very similar role. You should be located near or be willing to relocate to the Dallas area (for those familiar with the area, we currently have offices in Deep Ellum).

Business Development Lead at Foodspotting

  • Listed: June 2, 2010 5:19 pm
  • Expires: 58 days

We’re looking for someone who can accelerate Foodspotting’s growth and identify revenue opportunities by:

  • Forging partnerships with food and travel-related media (magazines, TV, newspapers, digital), businesses (local and national restaurants, specialty stores, grocery stores and merchants), brands (consumer product brands, food and drink brands, travel brands) and causes.
  • Identifying compelling opportunities for media, businesses and brands, including small businesses, to engage with and reward customers through the Foodspotting platform in ways that create value for both the users and the business.
  • Translating Foodspotting features into discrete products that can be marketed to media, businesses and brands and refining the messaging around these products.
  • Knowing what these opportunities are worth and negotiating mutually-beneficial terms and pricing structures as appropriate.
  • Sourcing, prioritizing, structuring, negotiating, closing and overseeing the implementation of these partnerships.
  • Reaching small businesses through strategic relationships.

Whether you’re from a marketing agency, a media company, an established tech company, a startup, or something entirely different, show us that…

  • You’ve forged interesting partnerships in the past that had a significant impact on growth.
  • You understand the needs and motivations of businesses in the food, consumer product and consumer media spaces, including local businesses.
  • You’re an excellent visual and verbal communicator who can communicate strategic thinking clearly and who can sell a vision to a potential partner.
